Hi and welcome back.
With Pancake day in the UK just around the corner, I thought I would try out gluten free ready made pancake mixes. I love pancakes; as a child I vividly remember spending many Shrove Tuesday evenings using ready made pancake batter to make our pancakes. I remember laughing as we could never flip the pancakes professionally and they often ended up on the floor. It was a perfect way to connect as a family and create memories. After being diagnosed as a coeliac, I came up with a go-to pancake recipe (coming later in the year so stay tuned!) which I love to use. However, there is something about ready made pancake options that I love for Shrove Tuesday. There are more and more of these ready made kits available but my favourites are the Mrs Crimble and Asda I own so those are what I am showing you today. I hope you have a lovely Shrove Tuesday and enjoy the amazing pancakes. C. -x-
Mrs Crimble’s Pancake and Batter Mix
This pancake mix comes in a dry format and can be used to create traditional american pancakes (my favourite), crepes or yorkshire puddings.

Prep time: under 5 minutes; Baking time: 3 – 5 minutes; Serves: 8 – 10
To create the pancakes, you simple add 400ml milk and 2 eggs to the pancake batter and mix. Heat a small amount of oil in a pan on a high heat, add the pancake mixture and cook for 2 -3 minutes until flipping and cooking for a further 2 minutes until golden brown. Once the pancake is cooked, serve immediately. I love mine with sugar and strawberry jam but you could also add: ice cream, Nutella or even savoury options. I love this pancake mix for the typical american style pancakes.

Asda Own
This readymade pancake batter comes in the plastic bottles I remember as a child. They are so simple to make and bring back fond memories of the time I din’t check the lid was fully screwed on the bottle before shaking – total mess ensued and I spent the rest of the evening cleaning the kitchen. Never made that mistake again!

Prep time: under 5 minutes; Baking time: 5 minutes; Serves: 6
To create these pancakes, simply add milk until you reach the marked line on the bottle. Shake to fully mix and add to a heated oiled pan. Cook for 1-2 minutes then flip before cooking until both sides are golden brown. Serve immediately. I loved mine again with ice cream. This pancake mix is easier to create thin crepe style pancakes. The best thing about these pancakes is they can be made dairy free using dairy free milk so it is quick and simple to make gluten and dairy free pancakes that taste amazing.

There you go! My go-to options to create perfect pancakes quickly. Mrs Crimble’s is best for american style pancakes while the Asda version is great for crepe styles. I hope you have a lovely Shrove’s Tuesday and enjoy the gluten free pancakes.
